How many students can I bring to a session?

There can be up to 130 spaces available per session, but this depends on the size of the host school’s hall and how many other students are already booked into the session.

What age group is the Science Roadshow most suitable for?

It’s designed for students in Years 1–10.

How do I pay?

Schools can pay on the day (cash only) for the number of students attending, or we can give you an invoice to take back to school.
Homeschoolers must bring cash on the day.
Please note we have no EFTPOS or credit card facilities.

How often do you visit an area?

At least every two or three years. The areas are selected by the Ministry of Education as part of our contestable LEOTC contract.

Terms and Conditions when making a booking for the Science Roadshow

Your school will be invoiced on the day of your visit for the greater of:

  • The actual number of students in attendance
  • The number of students showing as booked on the day for each session, less 20 students per session.

It is the expectation of the Roadshow that:

  • You have checked that this booking does not clash with other school events, which may significantly reduce student numbers attending, or force cancellation.
  • The number you have booked will be close to the number of students who will visit. We accept that student numbers may vary slightly on the day through illness, etc. Please notify us immediately if your numbers reduce by more than 20 students per session, so that we can try to reallocate those student places to other schools that may be on our waiting list.
  • You may change or cancel your booking without penalty up to 3 weeks prior to the visit date. A no-show or bringing significantly less students (over 20 less per session), will result in your school being invoiced for the confirmed booking less 20 students per session, however we will take into consideration exceptional circumstances.
  • Your contact details will remain confidential to the Roadshow. They will only be used for transactional communications in relation to this booking, potential future bookings and notifications of other Roadshow programme opportunities eg. teacher professional learning development.
As a parent, can I bring my child to the Science Roadshow?

If you’re a parent who is home-schooling, or your child’s school isn’t visiting the Science Roadshow this year, you can still bring your children to the Roadshow!

Who financially supports the Science Roadshow?

The Science Roadshow gratefully acknowledges the support of both the Ministry of Education through the contestable Enriching Local Curriculum process, and Science Alive.
